StampStorys é um projecto que começou com uma caixa de selos antigos, deixada pelo meu pai. Selos que por si só, são um objecto artístico que conta histórias e contam a história.
Mas quantas e quais outras histórias podemos contar com eles?
Esse foi o desafio: partir das imagens, do seu contexto e recriar outras imagens e outras histórias. Fundindo épocas, figuras históricas e acontecimentos, em novas personagens, ficcionados pelas narrativas encontradas nessa descoberta.
StampStorys is a project that started with a box of old stamps, left by my father. Stamps that, by themselves, are an artistic object that tells stories and tell the history.
But how many and what other stories can we tell whit them?
That was the challenge: starting from the images, their context and recreating other images and other stories. Merged eras, historical figures and events, into new characters, fictionalized by the narratives found in this discovery.
The Desterrado
"The Desterrado" é a primeira e uma das infinitas histórias que se podem contar com estes selos. Onde a construção de uma narrativa, foi gerada pela observação e estimulo encontrado em cada selo, que levou a outro, a outra ideia, a outra história. E esta viagem originou um assalto. Um assalto alucinado com os suspeitos do costume. Um desfilar de personagens e dos seus universos de acção. Recriando e criando um enredo ficcional onde se mistura por vezes, o tempo real do selo com um outro, sugerido pela imaginação.
Em "The Desterrado", a única historia real, é a da existência da estátua e a fotografia de Soares dos Reis, tudo o resto é uma fusão e ficção recriada.
"The Desterrado" is the first and one of the infinite stories that can be told by these stamps. Where the construction of a narrative was generated by the observation and stimulus found in each stamp, which led to another, another idea, another story. And this trip led to an assault. A hallucinated assault with the usual suspects. A parade of characters and their universes of action. Recreating and creating a fictional plot where the real time of the stamps is sometimes mixed with another one, suggested by the imagination.
In "The Desterrado", the only real story, is the existence of the statue and the photograph of Soares dos Reis, everything else is a fusion and recreated fiction.
